Listened to audiobook.
Hate to say it but the series is getting kind of boring now, I will read the next one but this book didn't need to be as long as it was. Really wordy.
Found myself nodding off and then having to rewind to find I hadn't actually missed anything pertinent to the story.

4.5 stars ~ I love ships. I love an archipelago! I love swimming in great cavernous bodies of water that dwarf you and contain sliding, gargantuan carnivores that if you’re brave enough, you can ride. Alright I might not have ridden a carnivore, but scuba diving in underwater currents alongside sea turtles certainly feels that way. Minus the teeth.
In this pho-scientific excursion, Isabella travels to volcanic islands, documenting sea serpents and smaller volcano dwelling dragons. She again tangles herself in the political and cultural, dwelling with the locals for a short time, dubbed as “dragon spirited” which means she’s of course accidentally subject to cultural strictures again.
Her relationship with her son is given page time in this book, both because he is older and because he is able to go with her, traveling the world. I admit Isabella’s manner of being a scientist is one of the most interesting and exciting I’ve read on, and if I too could swim oceans and explore jungles sleeping on the forest floor as a job discovering dragons, I would be there right alongside her.
