although I am not sure that this is my favourite book or series - I love the main character which makes me keep going in this series.

A return back to form for this series. I love the style so the strong plot that was missing in the second book for me is a welcome return.

As soon as I saw the cover for this third instalment, I knew I was going to love it! The entire series thusfar has had my heart ever since the first book, and so far, BASILISK is my favourite! I love high seas adventures and while is lacking in pirates, there was no shortage of adventure and intrigue and dragons within the pages.

The story is well paced and focuses more on adventure and exploration than traditional hard-nail action, though it certainly has lots of that at the end. There was a lot more detail into the lore of dragons and serpents and other creatures that amazed me. The author's imagination and creativity truly soared in BASILISK.

While familiar characters return and new ones are introduced, Isabella remains the character I loved the most. She made mistakes and doubted herself, only to recover with personal strength and power.I also enjoyed the new relationship she had with her son, and I truly hope to see more of those two together. Adore Isabella as I do, I have to say that Suhail is a close competitor for my affection. He's charming and mysterious and I hope to see a lot more of him in the future.

These books keep getting better and better and I can't wait to see where they take me next!
