Hated it, couldn't finish it.

Huh. I have no idea where this book came from, it was on my bookshelf and I figured I’d give it a shot. The first 2/3rds were fairly dull, way more character-driven when I prefer plot-driven novels. But then the plot started fleshing itself out in the 3rd section and...huh.

I almost quit this book 3 separate times and kicked myself at the end for not quitting. I sat with my mouth hanging open, wondering how in the free world to regain the hours I spent on this ridiculous novel.

Hated it, couldn't finish it.

I have nothing to say except this was a strange story.

Read BEFORE The Weight of Water. Same characters, but it will be spoiled if you know the ending of the story. Still interesting to read even if you know, just because Shreve is very good at making you wish for one outcome when a very different one is what will happen.

This is the most convoluted book! I didn’t care for her writing style at all. I am so confused by the ending. Ugh. I hate books like this.

ADDED THE DAY AFTER: Since I have slept on it and thought of nothing but this book, I will add more. First, the book was hard to get into. I think the writing style had a lot to do with that. Second, the characters weren’t likeable. There were things about Thomas and Linda that I just didn’t like. They had multiple affairs and didn’t give a flying flip. Third, she had died and none of it actually happened. What the heck??? And then on top of that, he ends up committing suicide. Just an overall sad book.

Not so much a fan I don’t think of this author’s style. This one was a bit confusing to me. At times I felt there were too many words and other times not enough to describe what was going on.

Shocking Ending

I had no idea what this book was initially about. The middle dragged a little for me, but the shock of the ending more than made up for that! A very unique premise that I have to honestly say I have yet to come across in the many books I've read!
