Karen M. McManus 2-Book Box Set: One of Us Is Lying and One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus
cynthiam's review against another edition
4.0
Five high school students are stuck in detention one afternoon, along with the supervising teacher, when one of them suddenly dies. It is clearly not an accident, but rather an elaborately planned murder. The dead student runs an online gossip site and he had secrets to reveal about each of the others. So, who did it? Who had the brains and the opportunity to plot and carry out this murder? Although not completely trusting each other, but definitely not trusting the police, the four remaining students band together to find out who the murderer is while they also cope with the fallout of their secrets being revealed. Good plot pacing, believable details, and characters that you can sympathize with. This is a young adult crime novel that works for adults too. Note: this is a review of just "One of Us Is Lying" -- I have not read "One of Us Is Next" yet.
