I loved this book! Like with the other books in the series, the plot, writing, romance, characters and political tension were all top-tier. I was satisfied with the ending. Like with Lara and Aren, I do wish we could've seen more of their lives together after the conflicts were resolved. But I'm hoping we'll see more of Zarrah and Keris in the next books (haven't yet been published).

I was a bit disappointed with Devil's Island. It sounded like such a cool setting. I was hoping we'd get more "bad things" going on there with how much it was feared. That part did fall a bit flat for me. Her time on Devil's Island could've been more entertaining IMO. It wasn't bad, just thought it could've been better. But from Zarrah's rescue on, I really enjoyed the book!

Also, I did slightly prefer Lara and Aren's story. I just thought the enemies-to-lovers trope was a bit more successful with them. The betrayal plot that Lara, Aren and all of Ithicana had to overcome was just so good. But I still loved Zarrah and Keris! Their romance was based off of mutual respect and was very sweet. I was completely sold on their romance!

Overall, the entire series is excellent! I could see myself rereading it and can't wait to read the new books when they come out!

A fun end to the series, I liked this book a bit more than the first one in Zarrah and Keris’s story since we finally get into new plot here and not a rehash of the first duology.

I liked how things were tied up and thought there were some good surprises. However, I felt like there wasn’t much time for their relationship in this book. (Valid with everything going on, but I missed their banter!)

Overall, enjoyable and I’m glad I finished out the series!

 The Endless War
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

💭“I choose you. I want to live every moment with you that I can, no matter that I know circumstance will wrench us apart, because I know we’ll fight our way back to each other’s arms again.”

I have tried to write this without spoilers, but if you haven’t read it and want to, maybe save this for later 👀
I think danielleljensen sprinkles something in the pages of her books because I devoured this in the space of two days and it isn’t a small book.

Zarrah and Keris sizzled. The high levels of tension between the characters and the nations equally matched. I did think it would culminate in a big fight, like the title suggests but I also think it is was a nice route to take because it made it different to the other fantasy books that I have been reading, that always end with a fight.

It was nice to have glimpses to Aren and Lara, and I am glad that Zarrah got everything that she deserved and earned. I hope that as we move towards Ahnna’s we get glimpses of Zarrah and Kerris intertwined like we have Aren & Lara.

Keris, now sits on a very short list of book boyfriends who are blonde, as I usually gravitate towards the dark features 😉 but he has weaselled his way onto this list.

Have you read this book?

🛍 Buy/Borrow? BUY - I read this on my kindle because I am trying to not accumulate books while in the UK! I am planning on getting a physical copy when I eventually come back home!
