You know what, i really like this book. It wasnt as dark as i expected, but the whole thing was lowkey cute especially Dusk's and Shatter's dynamic. It's giving Patient Dom and Bratty Sub. The plot itself i feel like is maily character driven, because as of right now, i dont know where the plot is heading.

However, the story seems very put together. like the author knows what the endgame of this series is, and she knows where and when to put the fillers and everything. Author KNOWSS the plot and i commend her for that, because i myself have tried to write some stories, but ended up being a jumbled mess because idk where the plot is heading.

The spice is also phenomal, since im too desenitized with smut, i tend to just skim over the smut scenes, but this one,,,,,shit it hooked me so yea i loved it.

I love the PoisonVerseNoir and PoisonVerse Series and Marie Mackay has done it again. I was hooked at the beginning and couldn't put down the book. I'm dying to read book 2. I need to know what happens to Shatter and what made her stop from walking out the door to her mates

First and foremost this is dark from the very first couple pages so please check triggers! HOWEVER as soemone who has read a lot of different RH and especially academy RH I'm really into this. It feels fresh in every aspect. I've never really seen omega and alpha done this way and  I love how we dont even get to really see much of one of the LI until the end. By then we still have a lot we don't know but it just makes you want to dive right into the next book.

Interesting premise, interesting characters, so far a very enjoyable read. So, like all of the poisonverse books I’ve read by this author. Ends on a cliffhanger (sort of- there’s something that’s adrenaline inducing and the book stops at the point of that without explaining- and while the story so far makes me think it might be a good thing… it could also be dangerous/painful).
As much as I want to put down details and maybe gush a little, I’m too tired to do it without spoiling the story. If you’ve enjoyed other poisonverse books, especially by Marie Mackay, or Redfang Royal by Lola Rock, you will probably enjoy the vibes with this one. Mystery, flashback snippets, some push-pull antagonism.

Marie Mackay quickly made it to the top of my autobuy Omegaverse list with Sweetheart, and Shattered Omega just cemented that #1 spot!

This novel is part of what Marie has coined PoisonVerse Noir, which is a darker and grittier universe than the original PoisonVerse world of her previous novels.

This is the first in a three-part series, in which we follow an Omega named Shatter as she embarks on a mission to find her scent match pack in the hopes that they will save her from the miserable future she's been told she is destined to experience--reason being, she has no memory of her life before the age of 19. She only remembers being kept in an estate where some sort of experimentation was taking place, in which she was a likely subject.

She was told that her biology is not that of a regular Omega, that her scent repels Alphas, and for her safety, her only option was to remain at the estate. One day she notices a pack of three Alphas at the estate and immediately scents them as her matches, but scent blockers prevent them from also discovering this. She decides her only chance at freedom and a normal life would be to run away and find her matches.

She follows them to an elite academy, with nothing but a fake identity and hope to get her foot in the door. But all her plans go out the window when she sneaks into a dorm room to steal scent blockers from the wrong alpha. The rest would be spoiler territory, so I will leave it at that to keep it interesting!

I will say however, that we will have three primary Alphas involved, Dusk, Umbra, and Ransom, and Shatter isn't the only one with a past full of secrets and shaky memories.

As always, Marie delivers a highly addictive, fast-paced story, with twists and turns at every corner. When it comes to the alphas, you'll want to slap one, hug another, but let them all have their way with you! I can't wait for part two and three!

Read this if you like: why choose Omegaverse, dark romance, suspense, morally gray alphas, found family, caretaking, secret identities, and kink exploration (amongst other things). Please check TW.

Marie Mackay’s ability to develop such deeply complex characters like Shatter, Dusk and Umbra makes reading her stories such a treat. I could not put this book down! I can’t wait to read part two. And knowing that the initial duet is now going to be a trilogy?

Yes!

Shattered Omega is a little darker than the other poisonverse novels, but not by too much. Shatter, our FMC, is an omega with a few issues including some instability with her aura, her heat, hormones, and little to no choice for her future if she wants any freedom at all. She needs her scent bonds (or so she thinks) for a princess bond, otherwise a dark bond and the cage that would entail are her only choice. However, before she can get them to scent her and choose her, she’s stolen chosen by Dusk, fascinated by the gold pack omega thief who immediately derails his plans for revenge.

Once again, the MMC falls first in such a wonderful display of awe and cherishing and yet Shatter’s lovely character can’t see any of it, locked up like so many of us are, in self-deprecating thoughts and ideas. The end hinted at her falling finally after Umbra’s—ahem—actions, but I’m hopeful the next book will finally allow her to interact with Dusk’s obvious infatuation. Dusk, the pack lead of the dysfunctional secretive Kingsman pack, struggles so often throughout the book, trying to help a struggling Shatter while also keeping his pack afloat. He’s so sexy! And I can’t wait to see how he looks vulnerable, in front of Shatter or Ransom. Umber, the chaotic member of the pack, is full of mischievous fun, ultimately leading to Shatter’s initial acceptance of their pack. Ransom…is a mystery. One I look forward to finding out more of!

There’s so many stories I cannot wait to see the end of! The mystery behind Ransom and the amnesia of the other three is so intriguing! How is Shatter’s ‘Uncle’ tied up with all of this? And the Lincoln pack? I hope Roxy isn’t involved at all, Shatter deserves a friend who actually likes her.

Shattered Omega #1 by Marie Mackay is worth the read.
