My favorite part was when Hannah suddenly developed a personality and became the kind of person that confronts a mob lawyer. And then we're suddenly meant to believe that she's a badass.

Protect her. A note delivered by a young student from her husband. Not knowing what is happening things start to unravel quickly for Hannah. When her husband Own doesn't come home, not hearing from him she realizes something is wrong. She has a 16 year old daughter Bailey who has yet to accept her but news of her husbands company being investigated for fraud she must act fast.

She doesn't know who to trust and what has happened to her husband, why did he run? And why did he leave her and more importantly, his daughter?

Not trusting the FBI or the US Marshals, she decides to leave her home with Bailey and investigate for herself. Going between moments in her past, trying to understand who her husband is and through the current time of trying to find clues from what her husband has told her, this is a very character driven story. I was captivated from the start and read very quickly as I just wanted to know what would happen next.

Hannah needs to choose her and Bailey's future and whatever she chooses will have an effect on all. The things she uncovers about her husband and his past and what has led them to their current situation. This is my first time reading Laura Dave but I will be checking out other novels by her

I felt like there was too much high stakes build up to a kind of anticlimatic ending. There was no much vague information about Owen and Nicholas, that I felt like we kind of got bogged down in his history, while also not learning enough about it either. Overall, very enjoyable, but I was underwhelmed.

I have read a lot of mixed reviews on this book, but I loved it. I read it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. It had good twists and turns. It was suspenseful enough to make you keep reading. The author made you want to know what happened next. So many books I know exactly what was going to happen and this one I was left wondering page after page.
