Did not see that ending coming. Oh, my heart. I'm never going to look at stars the same again.

This "universally beloved classic" fell a bit short with me. I got the underlying message here, and I thought it was beautiful. Perhaps the translation didn't quite connect, or maybe the storytelling was over the top? Either way, I do recommend this to anyone, it's short and yes...sweet.

I read this aloud with my kids over the course of a few months and we really enjoyed it. I think my nine year old was more into it than my six year old and the end of the story caught us all by surprise. It had moments that were really funny and moments that were really sweet and some sad moments as well. Very insightful and clever.
