Really fun series. Thanks, Amy, for giving them to Beth!

This series is fabulous! Kitty is the best character of all time. What a fun ride!

Not quite as magical as the first book, but getting to see Kitty's story is always important to me.

The second book in the Bartimaeus series.
Probably one of the longest audio books I have listened to, but I do enjoy the narrator.

Nathaniel is up to his sneaky self again and it's up to him and Bartimaeus to stop the resistance and the sudden attacks on London.
The book itself was a little slow to start off and again at the end - more of a build up for the third book I presume, but everything in the middle was great. There was action, creepy moments, chaos, and a tomb. The tomb was one of my favorite parts of the book.

The Bartimeaus Trilogy (books 1, 2, 3) are great young adult science fiction / fantasy novels. A must read for anyone who loves magic, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and creatures of all sorts. The ending is not expected.

I loved this book better than the first one. I loved how the author created the main characters. While reading the book, I loved and hated all three of them; Kitty, John and Bartimaeus. I really liked Honorius too! He was a really good plot twist in the middle. Overall it was a really good book, more action than in the Amulet of Samarkand.

The first fantasy book I've ever read that operates under the logic of historical materialism.

But seriously, what a great book. All of the characters are developed in interesting ways, the addition of Kitty's perspective adds volumes, and the action just never stops. Plus, like I said, it's pretty damn Marxist. And Stroud even dodges the antisemitism allegations by making it clear that the guy operating the golem is very much not Jewish.
