A really impressive followup to Jade City. The plot is impressive in scope and I thought there was a lot of great characters and development in terms of story and character. It did, at times, feel like the plot was a bit unwieldy, and a few plot lines I felt ended oddly pacing-wise. I think this is just more a symptom of how second books in fantasy series tend to be rather than a specific criticism of this series in particular. But I still really, really liked this continuation of the series, and this book's handling of a crime family/triad narrative has finally made me like this genre of storytelling.

So many unexpected twists in this one, Lee keeps the punches coming and lands every single one.

A significant drop in quality from book one. The author's not great at writing romance, and this one really focuses on that a lot. The politics are interesting, and the family drama stays mostly good. Characterization is lacking, and important stuff is brushed over very quickly during timeskips off-screen. I have heard good things of book 3, so here's hoping the series recovers.

Liked this one even better than the first. The way Lee makes the reader feel the complex emotions of the characters is insane- you really feel for these people, even when they commit the most horrific violence. Clan business is no joke. Emotional and exciting read!

I love the depth of the culture and traditions of the Green Bone Saga world.  I especially enjoyed exploring Kekanese, as well and first generation Kekanese in other countries. I also am impressed at Fonda's ability to make me care about people in a crime family dynamic. Looking forward to the next book in the se

This was as good as Jade City. We follow the Kaul family even further in their efforts to secure No Peak's position in Kekon and are given much more POVs and insights than in the first book. Anden is now living abroad in Port Massy, Republic of Espenia, and we follow him and his endeavour to make a home for himself far away from the Green Bone culture, family and expectations he grew up in. There's so much happening at the same time while tensions are high and the stakes are as high as they can get. I cannot wait to see how the story concludes in Jade Legacy.
