This book was a great conclusion to the series and tied up a lot of plotlines from earlier in very exciting ways. Sometimes it felt like it jumped around a bit, but otherwise, it was an exciting end to the series. I'm going to miss all the fun dragons.

The first part of the book was passable, but everyone was completely ruined by the ending. It was rushed, chaotic, and confusing. It felt like it belonged to a completely different book, and didn't match any of the previous content.
I said before that I wanted to see more of the Red Queen. I meant that I wanted answers, not a last-minute, unexpected appearance at the very end. And Rayg is evil now? Or is he Anklemere? How? And the Lavadome is a spaceship? None of it makes sense! It was kind of alluded to in this book, but the kind of reveals we got need to be set up properly throughout the series.

On top of that, there were lots of continuity errors and poor writing, of the sort that makes you wonder if the book was edited at all. Especially toward the end.

This series could have ended after book 3, maybe with a 4th to wrap up any remaining loose threads and reunite the dragon siblings. Honestly, I think one could be quite satisfied if they simply stopped after book 3 or 4 and pretended these last books didn't exist.

Great series, but the end felt rushed. With 6 books leading up to this, I really expected more. Some of the twists were, really, really good but left feeling a bit flat because some of the stuff with the Red Queen and the crystals wasn't explained.

And here we are: I've finished my reread of the Age of Fire series.

In the end, this book was better than the last several, I think. It could have used some serious editting -- sometimes the wrong dragon's names are used, and it took a couple confusing moments to parse out what was really meant. Knight occasionally loses track of who's speaking in dialogues without dialogue tags, which is even more confusing to work out.

But it was still entertaining enough. The ending was weird, but there was at least some build-up to make it plausible, maybe, I guess (though it also seemed like something retconned into the last couple of books instead of something meant from the beginning). A character's complete heel-turn was not well-done though, and really a lot of a disappointment.  But hey, it was hardly mentioned at all how the scent of human females makes male dragons horny.

Am I glad I reread this series after nearly 11 years? I honestly couldn't tell you.

The editing errors that plagued the last novel only became worse in this one. Not only were character names interchanged in such a way that I was never certain which characters were where, but there also seem to be sections missing. There was enough material in this book that if expanded could have made this one into two books. Overall, I was very disappointed in the way things turned out.

It really felt like the author gave up on this one a book and a half ago.

Sadly, this was the worst book in the series. I've loved every page up until this book. I feel it was rushed, and there were so many errors...like DharSii and Nivom's names being mixed up A LOT! The ending left us going "huh?" No closure, and was just WAY too convenient of ridiculous events, that JUST happen to have happened at that exact moment. I loved the series, but really hated this book. I was left feeling cheated, with an ending that just wasn't satisfying at all.

The final book to the Age of Fire series and for all its faults, it was a lovely end to a series I've much enjoyed reading.

All of this series has been - well, the author jumps around a lot, letting years pass between scenes without giving any explanation. But this last one feels like the author said "Oh yeah, I need to get a conclusion out for that series...here, have my plot notes!"

More writing, please. Also, dragon's mate's names should not be interchangeable. Especially when at one point you're talking about a dragon's mate and you name his SISTER instead. Come on, it's not that hard. You only have three main characters!

Oh, and the actual ending? I'm still not sure what actually happened, or where two of the main characters went. He talks about something about to happen, and then mentions that it happened (from a years-later perspective) but doesn't actually DESCRIBE IT HAPPENING. Quit being lazy. Show me the action!
