I read this book because it is very different to the movie such to be a whole different experience. I'm not sure it was the best jumping on point for the Bond novels, but it did cast a strong impression, unique style, and a reason to read more in the series.

Much better than the last one. It was a quick, enjoyable read with lots of interesting bits. Definitely a step up. I was a bit confused as it is nothing like the movie, but I'm okay with that.

Finally Fleming gets into his groove and gives us the classic bond we all know and love. A massive improvement on the first two books.
It's back to the cards table surprisingly soon but the action is high, the racism pleasantly absent, and the story engaging. A good way to spend an easy bank holiday

Not my favorite Bond so far but still an enjoyable interesting read, Enjoyed the character of Gala and the plot but the slow opening didn't draw me in!

An excellent story overshadowed by the more famous movie. Use of the name Drax is the only true connection from the book here. A fantastic card scene, a car chase, endurance through pain and fear and a bit of a reality check for the wildy self absorbed and chauvinistic Bond it's a great read.
