This was a fun, interesting read. It felt more like listening to someone telling the stories that had the most impact on their life versus the all to often dry telling of the history of life. It certainly gave me a perspective on Kate Mulgrew's life that I had not anticipated.
This book reminded me of all the vocabulary words my mom made me learn growing up. Not a fan of the style of writing but fascinated with Kate Mulgrew's life.

Such a fan. If you loved her in Star Trek or Orange is the New Black, then I highly recommend.

I finished watching Voyager last year and hearing Kate Mulgrew’s voice again was like welcoming an old friend back home. Her life as she tells it was altogether glamorous and sad. She somehow seemed to fall serendipitously over and over into romance and roles so you couldn’t help but envy her style even during the wrenching parts.
Graphic: Grief
Moderate: Miscarriage, Rape, Pregnancy
Minor: Child death, Dementia
I struggled with giving this book three or four stars. It is well written and gives a deep look into who Kate Mulgrew is, and the events that shaped her. For that, and the occasional vocabulary word, I salute her. As a reader of celebrity autobiographies, however, I was disappointed. Very little of the tale recounts her time in front of the audience or camera. In particular, the reason I know her at all, Star Trek l: Voyager, is only in the book for a couple of chapters. Orange is the New Black and her other recent work is not mentioned at all. My respect for her as a person and a working woman has increased, so the book was definitely not bad. It did end abruptly, as other reviews have mentioned. Overall I enjoyed it.
