Mundan
I likely spelt that incorrectly. Anyway, this reminded me of stories I heard growing up. There are a few different traditions involving babies and their haircuts. This was definitely not like I imagined.

Another excellent essay, brimming with humour and pathos. And as the mother to a half-Hindu, half-Catholic, yet also kind-of-secular child, it was very reassuring to read about Mindy's own experience and the uncertainty she feels, as religion is and will be a complicated presence in my family life (thanks largely in part to my wholly-Catholic guilt).

I don’t have kids, but the question of “how religious am I?” and “why am I engaging in a religious practice?” really resonated with me. It was also a beautiful story about grief and connection.

I don’t know any of the entertainment things the author has been in - but the title catchend my attention and i am so happy i read this.
it’s very much just a little essay sharing the authors journey to figuring out her stand to and with religion in a honest and realistic way.
i loved how this didn’t feel as if the author tried to force anything in anybody but really just shared her own personal journey and how she even shared that being kind of religious works just fine for her and her family and that’s enough.
well written, quick and easy to read and a nice little story overall.
