I enjoyed The Roommate way more than I thought. After reading some reviews I was concerned that it would be boring and I wouldn’t like it but that wasn’t the case for even one second.

I liked the sex positivity and how they dealt with sex in general in this book. The typical cliches were featured but they also went deeper with the prejudices with working in the porn industry.
-> “Everyone thought it was the jealousy thing you had to worry about when trying to date in his line of work, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Jealousy assumed that nonindustry people accepted the moral and social implications of his profession. That they wouldn’t mind introducing someone who made porn to friends and parents.”
-> “How many times had people laughed when they heard his profession? Or stammered and refused to meet his eyes? How many people had called him disgusting?“

After their first time I was hoping for a bit more aftercare seeing them cuddle and reassuring each other. Especially with all the talk about sex and the profession of Josh I just expected not only great sex but also great aftercare.

Also the ending was pretty rushed and I would’ve liked to see more about the process of Shameless, Josh and Clara’s relationship and their respective relationships with their parents.
Apart from that I can’t think of any other flaws in this book.

All in all I was surprised by how much I liked it and would definitely recommend it!

Was hooked immediately and couldn’t put this book down! Loved the sex positivity and the way that Rosie showed that sex comes in many forms and that we shouldn’t be scared to ask for what we want! I thought the flaws of the MCs were realistic, although I wish that they had just talked to each other a bit more. I also wish we had seen some of what happened after Clara talks to her family and more of the legal issues brought up towards the end of the story. But this was a great read filled with a lot of sex positivity that I really appreciated, as well as some great banter and some lovely character development!

I liked the slow burn with a little spice that wasn’t overbearing. A few scenes felt like a male gaze, which was unexpected considering the plot and author. It was a quick read for me despite its length.

The book has forced proximinity, roommates to lovers, and subverts tropes like longtime friends to lovers and women hating each other who have been with the same man. This book is about sex workers and the porn industry and how they navigate the industry. It's also about love and how societal shame and stigma can be a barrier to fearlessly loving someone. It was Feminist, and I appreciated the sex-positive nature of the book. The sexual content wasn't that graphic (compared to other romance books).
This book felt rushed towards the end and I wish we got more on their background and childhoods. I easily would've read another 100 or 200 pages for more character development and background and more romance overall. The writing was good, reminded me of wattpad in a good way. It was interesting and different than the other romance books I've read this year.

Here are some quotes that I loved: SPOILER

"Change always comes with a closing cost.... But it's still worth trying. Not because the odds are particularly good, mind you, but considering the alternative. There's value in the struggle. Value and touching the raw and bloody parts of our souls, opening them up to the sunlight, and hoping they heal."

"I'm sorry I was too scared to accept it before. I always thought love was supposed to make you itchy. A crawling out of your skin kind of obsession. I thought love was synonymous with pining and logging. That I had to hurt.... But love isn't like that. At least not for me. Loving you is like sinking into a warm bath after a lifetime of feeling cold down to my bones..... It's having someone see me, past artifice and the posturing, and decide I'm more than enough.... My love for you isn't an addiction. Being with you doesn't provide some warped sense of validation for my life. You were never a fling I had to get out of my system. Our love feels like... Freedom. The kind people give their lives for."

Funny, light, fluffy. The perfect thing to crack you out of a reading slump! I love the exploration and shameless discussions of sex and the adult entertainment industry.

This was a rollercoaster, in first 10 pages I was gonna DNF, then I was laughing out loud and it was a solid 4, then it went down to a 3 and at the end it was a 3,25.
The thing is Clara and Josh are suuper cute, and hot and funny... When they don't let the insecurities that they both have jeopardize everything they are achieving, and not just between them, but in their careers and personal life too. I had some moments in this book when i just wanted to get in a shake them to sense, they were acting so dumb!
So yeah this is really good and funny book but you gotta have patience with this two.
