The world inside Assasins Mercy is wonderful. I absolutely love that it has bisexual representation, the book is full of emotion, and diversity. Following Verve through this story was fun, and emotional. I really liked the found family, and I just enjoyed being in the world.

The majority of the book is full of Verve being an Assasin (zero complains about that), and her interactions with the mages. The romance takes more of a backseat for the majority of the book in my opinion, and I would say it's pretty slow burn. I didn't mind that at all, I felt it was more realistic relationship building and I liked it. It does have a couple spicy momens though, it's slow burn, but not closed door. All you spice fans, I'm looking at you. 😆

I really enjoyed all of the characters we meet in the story. Verve and Alem give grumpy and sunshine vibes and are just so opposite. It was fun to see them slowly get together. The growth from both characters was nicely done as well. The story did feel a bit slow in a couple parts, but it was a fast read. I didn't find that slowed me down. If I had more time to focus on the book today, I could have finished it in one day. I'm very interested to see what happens in book 2! How the author and story grow, I can only see things getting better.
