This is a book about people who don’t know how to communicate with one another and don’t do anything to rectify that.

This book was definitely a perfect read for March. While the story does not take place in Ireland, it is about a strong Irish Catholic family.

I haven’t always been into family drama stories, to be honest—they at times feel slow to me. But this book was such a gem! I couldn’t put it down & really didn’t want it to end. Tracey writes with such depth; very character-driven story, and I loved hearing from multiple perspectives, with Sunday’s ex-fiancée Kale being my favorite character.

I truly found myself feeling like I was part of the family while reading this. I was rooting for each one of them & really wanted the best for them, as you would want for loved ones in your actual life. I grabbed this copy from the library, but I’m 100% wishing I would have just bought it instead. I think it needs a permanent spot on my shelf.

Though this book had seamless narrator changes and good character development, I did not appreciate the way it praised sacrificing your mental, emotional, and moral self for the sake of family. Brushing away dysfunction and problems with the excuse, “that’s family” isn’t okay.
