In my journey through the past 6ish books, I had come to the conclusion that I related the most to Eloise out of all of the Bridgerton siblings. But, that was simply because I had not met Hyacinth yet. Yes, Hyacinth is featured in the other books & I enjoyed her characterization, but she was largely just a child in the other books and I feel like her character had not been fully shown yet.

In her own story, Hyacinth is bold, blunt, sarcastic, witty, and intelligent. She is the youngest of the eight Bridgerton siblings. That definitely plays into what she’s able to say / get away with. She also gives most of the men in the ton a run for their money, and many of them are scared of her. It’s somewhere between comical and sad, how everyone in her life repeatedly says how she needs to find a husband she wouldn’t be able to run into the ground. I felt Hyacinth’s pain when Felicity says those exact words to her. Hyacinth is the perfect example of the loud, outspoken youngest child, which is something I absolutely relate to.

When it comes to the rest of the book, there are definitely things I liked and disliked. For one, I almost wish we still had Lady Whistledown because I did not enjoy the little sections at the beginning of the chapter setting up the scene. It just felt… weird and unneeded, I guess. As well, I am stuck somewhere between liking Gareth and disliking him. I like that he appreciates Hyacinth’s intelligence and stubbornness, but his weird ulterior motives behind marrying her was sketchy and I didn’t like it at all. Once he got his stuff together & head on straight, I liked him so much more. It was just unfortunate that it came so late in the book that I didn’t get to get to see that side of him for long.

really cute and I appreciated the mystery side plot going on! I also loved the insight we got on Lady Danbury through Hyacinth; she’s been such a constant in this series that I can’t help but adore her. Only a 3-star rating, though, because it was just a fun book to read and didn’t make me feel a whole lot other than amusement (if that makes sense? Basically it was entertaining and that was it). NOT A BAD BOOK but not something that’s going onto my favorites list if that helps understand my feelings towards this book.

As far as Bridgeton books go, this one was pretty good. A fun and quick read.
