Another book to love in the series! Great writing and quirky engaging characters!
Glad Jane and Gabriel finally sorted stuff out! I like them together and hate the whole soap opera of together and breakup that many series do.
Someday I want to movie to Half Moon Hollow and work for Jane at the bookstore! LOL

We when last left Jane, she was in the process of traveling for the first time in her life. With Gabriel by her side, and a ton of money in the bank, NICE GIRLS DON’T LIVE FOREVER opens with the happy couple, not so happy at all. Gabriel is still receiving weird messages and leaving Jane all alone while he’s off doing who knows what and he won’t tell Jane what’s going on. They’re in a hotel room overseas, fighting and Jane storms out and heads back home. She’s heartbroken when days pass with no word from Gabriel and it hits her that he didn’t bother to come back home after her. But Jane refuses to mope around, she has a lot going on in her life and she comes with a new life plan:
My plan to become a Brave New Jane went a little something like this:
(1) Develop a healthy, normal romantic relationship, preferable with Gabriel.
(2) Create a fulfilling career for myself.
(3) Demand that my family love me without judgment. Even if it means I have to rent a new family over the Internet.
(4) Find a solution for world peace.
I can live without that last one, though I know it’s far more likely than the other three.
The theme of this book is family – Jane is still dealing with her own, Zeb and Jolene are expecting twins, Dick and Andrea and getting closer and closer to becoming their own family, and a nuisance from Gabriel’s past, the letter writer, finally shows up and we get to put a face and a personality to the name. One thing I continue to love about this series is it really is like a peek into Jane’s life at any given moment. In one scene she’s fighting with her sister and yelling at her rude Grandma before she heads out to her Chamber of Commerce meeting run by a bunch of women all named Courtney. It’s the little moments that make me smile and laugh and Jane has a quite a few “moments” in this one.
The storyline that takes center stage is the mystery woman connected to Gabriel and how it impacts his relationship with Jane. They spend much of the book broken up, they come together once, but it’s a heartbreaking scene because Jane wants so much for Gabriel to just be honest with her and he won’t do it. But there is finally a conclusion to this storyline that has carried over from the previous book. I was getting a little tired of Gabriel’s refusal to tell Jane what was going on, so I was happy to see that resolved and put behind them.
Andrea pulled a DVD case with a blank cover out of her purse. “I also brought this. It’s an unrated version of the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice, the Colin Firth version. Dick got it from one his…sources. There’s a rumor that during the bath scene, you get an accidental peek at Mr. Darcy’s bum.”
“Oh, Lord, she’s crying again,” Jolene groaned as I gave her neck another moist hug.
I blubbered, “I’m just so happy!”
Dick and Andrea have a great supporting storyline that, while it never takes center stage since this is Jane’s story and all, we get the fly-by version when they interact with Jane. I love them together. Talk about the ultimate odd couple. But what made me laugh the most was seeing that it wasn’t Andrea’s classy, mature style that started rubbing off on Dick. Oh no…it was his graphic shirt wearing, wrestling watching, beer drinking ways that rubbed off on Andrea. They are an adorable couple and proved to be great friends to Jane.
Family relationships were dealt with in many ways over the course of the book. Zeb and Jolene are still dealing with her meddlesome family and the upcoming birth of their twins. One of the sweetest scenes involves Jane’s mom planning a baby shower for Jolene. It’s a fast, quick scene, but based on what happened at the shower Jolene’s own family threw for her, it was a sweet moment for her having this new shower. It’s another one of the small moments that keeps me smiling throughout.
I just can’t get enough of Jane, and I’m already depressed that there’s only one book left. This series continues to be lighthearted, fun and very fast paced with Jane finding herself in some of the oddest situations and making sarcastic remarks no matter what’s happening around her…or to her. This book does have the mystery of who the secret woman from Gabriel’s past is and what she wants with him and Jane, but what I enjoy most is how each book feels like we’re just seeing Jane live her crazy life. Be it running her new bookstore and dealing with Dick and Andrea “working”, trying to get off a committee that one of the Courtneys put her on at a Chamber meeting or seeing her face on the Memorial board at her 10 year high school reunion – Jane brings the fun to everything she does.

Okay. I enjoyed this one a lot. These books are always good for a laugh, and I mean that positively. A funny, light read. Fine holiday fun!

I loved it...I had figured out kinda what was going on but was shocked at some of those involved. love!!!!!
Cute but silly. Still liking the supporting cast and characters of this series.
The only thing that bothers me, is the main character lets people walk all over her. I enjoy the characters. Dick is my favorite. She is a strong woman, but just seems to not be able to say no.
