Lindsey Dunne is a small town girl who made good by becoming a successful ballerina in NYC but she returned home after her parents were in a horrible car crash that killed her father and severely injured her mother. Two years after the accident, Lindsey is still living in her hometown and has opened a ballet school. When a new student, Ruth Bannion, moves to town it doesn't take Lindsey long to see that Ruth is destined for the stage. Just as quickly as Lindsey recognizes Ruth's talent she also falls for Ruth's guardian and uncle, Seth Bannion. Seth is a successful architect who relocates to the small New England town to help provide Ruth with stability after the death of both her parents. He falls for Lindsey too but is worried that the call of the stage will lure her back to New York. This early Nora is a story of almost insta-love with some wonderfully complex family relationships. Nora also displays her talent at creating engaging and well rounded side characters but this story is definitely more of a set up for the companion novel (and all around better book), Dance of Dreams. Lindsey a prima ballerina called home from her life and career following an accident that took her father and severely injured her mother. Now caring for her mother Lindsey opens a ballet studio in her home town. Suddenly she finds herself in a rainstorm almost run over and falling in a puddle. Hovering over her is a rude, handsome man, Seth. Finding out soon that he the guardian and uncle of a soon to be remarkable ballerina. There back and forth romance got a bit annoying for me. Seth seemed to be domineering, egotistic, rude and dictatorial. He always wants his way or no way at all. Lindsey seemed very mousy. This would have been a much better story if it was longer. It felt choppy, at times and it seemed to be skipping over periods of time. The ending was very predictable.

A nice little romance, one of the best way to pass the time on a rainy day.

One of my favorite old Nora Roberts books. I think I like it because it introduces the reader to Nikolai Davidoff- a secondary character who gets center stage in the companion book. It’s a cute, quick romance read and leads well into the sequel book.
