A well written and interesting biography that never gets dull. Audrey is a great subject and Barry told her story beautifully.

Picked this up at the library before realizing how freakin' dense it is. I have seen almost all of Audrey Hepburn's films, so I figured it would be interesting to learn more about her life, and the making of those films. Well, my revised plan is to buy this (it's $1.50 used on Amazon) and just read parts of it every now and then. I do not have the willpower to read it all in one go!

This book was incredibly special and really put Switzerland on the map for me, as a place of peace, a place for coming home, early on in my life and career.

Audrey's regal aura, exquisite taste, class, style paired with her driven, determined work ethic got her name known by the whole world.

This incredible woman lived a rich and difficult life that she herself said mirrored Anne Frank's very similarly. I am so glad she found reading as her lifeline, met her true soulmate, reconnected to her original Dutch roots, and was able to give so much to her mission with UNICEF, identifying with the women she met along the way. From her chaotic early years to hard loves and global hectic travels, I am so glad she found belonging, accepted her shortcomings, and found true love. She deserved the world.

Favorite quotes:
  • "God kissed her on the cheek, and there she was"
  • "There was poetry and motion in anything she touched"
  • "I believe in fixing a goal for myself and not being diverted in any way from pursuing that goal"
  • "If you really worked hard, you'd succeed, and that everything had to come from the inside"

An extremely engrossing and through yet simultaneously dry and long-winded biography of the one woman besides Taylor Swift I talk too much about.

You're an incomparable legend Audrey, I love you.

I love this woman. I love her films. I love her philanthropy. I love her viewpoints and way of life. To have read a good chunk of this while in one of Audrey's favorite cities, Paris, is just the icing on the dang cake.
