I love the Jade O'Reilly series (one book and several short stories previously) and this second book is no exception. The plot is well thought out. It's fast-paced and the characters are well developed as always.

Jade investigates the theft of a priceless artifact owned by Benton Rowe - a multimillionaire who has an interest in Jade that is more than professional. Of course this is upsetting to her boyfriend, Keith who is a detective with the Sweetwater Police Dept. Jade and Keith are already having a few issues over Jade's plan to get a concealed carry license, so Benton's interest comes at a vulnerable time in their relationship.

Jade is also trying to determine exactly why her father was killed years before and if it had anything to do with Benton. There's lots of great action, twists and suspects. And I love how involved Jade's family is. It makes her character more three-dimensional.

I don't want to give away anything so you'll just have to read the book. It's worth it.
