hold up why are the ratings so low on this… I literally ate this up I couldn’t stop reading it and it was one of the books I read on my week and a half long trip I’m just now adding a review for bc I had like no signal all of the trip but here was my notes app review:
5 stars!!!!
Literally starting July off so strong with this read. I already liked this author from a couple other books I read by her and this one just solidified my love for her writing. It was PERFECT. I love their little family and I already miss Stella.

This book was okay, it was a second chance romance but also not really? things ended with the main characters before they ever began. they were just friends with feelings for each other.
I also feel like the FMC wasn’t upset enough about seeing him again after 14 years and that the MMC didn’t care enough about what he was asking the FMC to do for him until he saw how unhappy she was about it towards the end of the book?! like it took him almost 75% of the book to see how much her work mattered to her and then he was all “i don’t want you to give anything up” / “i don’t want you to give up on your dreams” when that’s what he was asking her to do throughout the whole book.
The MMC ghosted her for 14 years then called her back and expected her to just give up her ENTIRE life in LA for him / to help him. Through the entire ordeal i felt like he thought he was entitled to her time and help when he wasn’t. He constantly complained about how she wouldn’t help and how he could get her to help him. Even when she repeatedly said no and wouldn’t give up everything she built for him.The FMC even offered to help find other options and took on way more than she ever needed to and it still felt like that wasn’t enough for him.
On top that he lied to her for the entirety of that 14 years. He was stalking her / watching her, he knew everything she was doing during their time apart while also trying to ensure that they never ran into each other when HE left her. Even then he spent the whole book in contemplation whether pursuing a real relationship with her was even worth while saying he couldn’t live without her all in the same chapters. It made no sense. And on top of that when she found out about these lies he had the audacity to be mad and blame his poor hockey performance on the fact that she left him for A COUPLE OF DAYS to deal with the fact that she’s been lied to for what I think was 15 years at that point.
The book was good and the story was interesting but i felt like there was too many red flags in their relationship that made it hard for me to want to root for them.

Good book but I don't like how she ends up pregnant and married.... Like sure married but I really hate the fact that's she's pregnant...
I just don’t even remember starting it so… maybe I’ll come back one day?

WOW. What a touching, empowering, hot read. I couldn’t put it down. The writing was amazing! These characters were real and flawed but still lovable.
I really can't get over how it felt like they were making a cliche of feminism
