the art is gorgeous and i loved the setup, though it ended up telling a different story than i thought it was going to, especially since it felt like four issues of intrigue followed by one chapter of wrap-up. i think i gotta read this again at some point and try to do it in one sitting.

What a triumph, a profoundly emotional and poetic look at life and death and their beauty. I was crying at the end; it completely surprised me

I really liked this comic. The story wasn’t especially complex, but I really felt for the characters. Some of the logic of the book was strange, but it worked within the world of the comic. And the ending was not in any way what I was expecting, but it felt right. The color choices of this comic were also really beautiful

The Many Deaths of Lailla Starr" is beautifully illustrated and colored graphic novel, with the visual elements adding depth to the narrative. The graphic novel offers an intriguing meditation on death, examining it through the lens of Indian religion and culture. Reflecting on death prompts contemplation about the meaning of life, emphasizing that the two concepts gain fuller significance when contrasted with each other. Despite enjoying the digital version, the experience has left me eager to read a physical copy, contemplating the purchase of my own copy due to the profound impact it had on me.
