- the semi-Hindu and Indian inspirations and art were all very interesting to look at
- I thought having interesting and different and odd point of views (Crow, cigarette) was an interesting writing choice
- I think there were a few good quotes, a few good panels, I would have liked a whole novel length piece
- overall, it felt hard for me to connect to? I didn't really feel like I got it, like it was too deep for me to understand?
- especially at the end it felt like I had missed some pages, what was the guy's point?
- did it get somewhat fortune cookie cheesy?
- this is existential: does death have a purpose in life
- I did not find this to be very upbeat/fun nor very exciting just pretty, and mildly thought-provoking
- I did not feel attached to either death or Laila= hard to connect/ care?
- the art is maybe memorable but I already have forgotten the content

Beautiful artwork and creative storytelling- very interesting thoughts about death and the value of mortal life
Last year, I fell out of loving graphic novels. I still read many because it's part of my job to stay informed about comic series, but it was mostly Batman titles, X-books, the Valiant Universe, and other series that I read more out of habit than love. What I haven't been doing is picking up indie books or random Image, Boom, or Dark Horse books.
I'm very happy that my first blind grab this year was this title. I don't think I've been as pleasantly surprised by a one volume story since I read [b:Daytripper|8477057|Daytripper|Fábio Moon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327876816l/8477057._SX50_.jpg|13341979] a decade ago.
The story: the god of death is let go by a corporation culture of gods. She becomes mortal at the same time a baby is born who is going to discover a cure for death. The story shows the two of them overlapping and interacting throughout their lives, and throughout the many deaths of the former god of death.
The pacing of the book is incredibly tight. Each chapter feels like a complete story. And the ending was surprising but it didn't feel like a cheap twist.
I would recommend this for fans of when the DC Vertigo line was at its peak, or people who love creative takes on mythology in a modern world.

Gosh, I love Ram V's style: the writing, the vibrant art - it's perfect.
I really enjoyed this story drawing from Hindu mythology. It is a simultaneously darkly humorous and profoundly philosophical read. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved this. The art is gorgeous, with colors that suck you into each page. The story is compelling and unusual and wonderful. I just loved it.
