informative slow-paced
I skimmed this book very slowly and carefully mostly on Friday mornings and shabbat afternoons. A lot of it went over my head, but I think Boyarin offers important thinking here (and, presumably, elsewhere) and that this is an important book. An important book — especially for those who see Talmud study as an important religious and cultural activity, all the more so for diasporic Jews. I would like to return to it in a few years when I have greater facility within my own Talmud study practice, and, Gd willing, some experience in teaching/leading in Diaspora communities
