I always struggle to formulate my thoughts about poetry, especially contemporary poetry. It’s a genre I’m still finding my feet with. Some poems - those with a clear focus on the climate crisis, or colonialism or the nostalgic way you can sometimes look at home when you are living far away- in this collection I connected with easily. Others - those with surreal elements especially- were more of a challenge. But overall a good reading experience and, unsurprisingly, the more contemporary poetry so read the more comfortable I become with it.
