I listened to the Audible version read by the author himself, who is a compelling reader. He has a well-educated, gentle British accent & his delight at the subject matter comes through in his voice, which is lovely. Although the material is dry at times, it is still very worth listening to. The author presents a great many unusual & relatively unknown facts about fungi, their uses now (& possible far-reaching uses in the future.) I read this book directly after finishing "Braiding Sweetgrass" and the 2 books make good companion pieces.

This was good overall. It accomplished what it set out to do -- as a lay person I learned new things about fungi and my ways of thinking about them have expanded.

I just found it quite boring, kept catching myself getting distracted
