This just didn't do it for me. The only part of the book that really had my attention was the Prologue. I feel like it was mostly spice and very little plot. Without the spice, the story could be summed up in less than 100 pages. I didn't connect with either character, and they lacked any character development.

I’m 30% in and all they’ve done is fuck twice after meeting at the club. No connection between these two. Macon is kind of a cocky douche and I don’t like him. Now he’s contemplating that he’s in love with her after not even knowing her name and having sex with her twice. This is also poorly written and I’m bored.
I thought it was boring and all the conflict was blown so far out of proportion.
This book met all of my expectations. Marni is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints. Macon is a playboy through and through with no reason to have his life any other way. It isn’t until he locks eyes with Brooklyn that his mindset changes. They both only want one night to let loose, but that’s not what happens. Their lives are intertwined and Macon cannot stay away from Brooklyn. It’s super sweet and also incredibly hot. Macon falls instantly head over heels in love with her and has to convince her that their differences don’t matter. I loved it.
Holy moly was this a great, steamy kickoff to Marni's new series! That Macon was something else. Marni writes the best, possessive alpha males that know how to take care of their woman, and Macon was no exception to that. Brooklyn was an amazing FMC, knowing exactly what she wants, and doing everything in her power to make her dreams happen. But it is what made her hold back with Macon. Of course, he eventually wore her down with all his delicious ways (because who could really resist all his swoon and spice) and I was so here for it. I loved catching up with a few characters from Marni's last series as well, it always adds a little something extra to the story when you know more of the characters.
The narration from Savannah and Tor was great. Savannah is always amazing, and Tor really brought out the sexy broodiness of Macon.

THE PLAYBOY is the first book in the Spade Hotel series which is a spin off from the Dalton Brothers series, but can be read as a standalone! If you recall, Macon is Jenner’s cousin-in-law, is bffs with Camden, and is the nephew of Walter Spade who owns Spade Hotels (I think I got that right!)
Macon is in Kauai for several months managing the construction of Spade’s brand new luxury hotel. After dealing with a bad break up in college, Macon vows never to be in a relationship or tied down again. For seven years he’s maintained his playboy status.
But ironically, at Jenner’s bachelor party at a club in Kauai, he meets his match in Brooklyn, a gorgeous, petite dancing queen. He spots her across the club and has to go meet her. Brooklyn won’t give him the time of day, errr night, but Macon is persuasive and gets her to spend a night of no-strings-attached pleasure with him. Brooklyn allows herself to let loose for a night but won’t let a guy get in the way of her dreams: she’s months away from graduating college and hoping to find a job off the big island.
Macon can’t stop thinking of her, and without even knowing her name or number, he has no way to reach her. So he stalks her at the club every night hoping to run into her again. Of course he succeeds. They could not be more different, but the more Macon sees Brooklyn, the more he wants her. He’s determined to make her his and I love that she makes him work for it.
This was such a fun read! Macon is your typical alpha billionaire but has an old soul. Brooklyn is intelligent and headstrong and wise beyond her years, which are qualities I always admire in a heroine. The book was atmospheric as it was set in Hawaii and it definitely gave me Blue Crush vibes.

Ok I loved this book so much! Thank you Marni Mann and PR publishing for the Arc. Macon is a playboy straight out of the gate not even alittle remotely interested in any kind of relationship. That is until he spots Brooklyn across the club and he physically can’t stay away. Brooklyn is fun and spunky and overwhelmed by life at the moment. She has not time to entertain the idea of a man in her life. Macon refuses to let her get away. Watching these two let down their guards was beautiful to watch. I can’t wait for the rest of the Spade series!
