Macon Spade is the definition of relationship goals. One moment he’s the epitome of a “playboy” — and the literal next moment, he’s wholly drawn into the aura of sweet Brooklyn.
The meet one night when Macon is out with the family for a bachelor party, he sees Brooklyn across the way on a stage dancing and his mind is filled with trying to figure out who this woman is. He is prescient until gets what he wants. Constantly going back after their night of fun, trying to get a name of who the mystery dancer is. You watch them play cat and mouse throughout the whole book, each one of them has something pretty important to tell the other one. I loved reading this book and seeing their feelings develop into something more. The ending had me in tears.

Ok I loved this book so much! Thank you Marni Mann and PR publishing for the Arc. Macon is a playboy straight out of the gate not even alittle remotely interested in any kind of relationship. That is until he spots Brooklyn across the club and he physically can’t stay away. Brooklyn is fun and spunky and overwhelmed by life at the moment. She has not time to entertain the idea of a man in her life. Macon refuses to let her get away. Watching these two let down their guards was beautiful to watch. I can’t wait for the rest of the Spade series!
This started out promising but I grew very annoyed with the MCs as the story developed.
Brooklyn seemed to be the girl who takes what she wants, does what feels good, and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Like … chase your dreams and live your best life. You go girl. She doesn’t want to depend on a man or be attached to anyone. She’s not ashamed of anything or at least that’s what she claims.
Well, then billionaire (Macon) pursues her and does NOT take no as an answer. He was a playboy until the moment he saw her. Like c‘mon man! You don’t even know her! she said no soooo many times. His actions were borderline harassment. But she seemed into it and have I mentioned he’s a billionaire? so I guess he gets a pass. Anyway, she eventually gave in to him and they both fell so madly in love with each other. Gross. I’m very happy for them but it felt like they knew each other for a week and decided they were soulmates. When you know you know I suppose. I’m just a cynic

This MMC is sooooo gross. I DNF at 2 hours into the audio. I love both of the audio narrators and listen to their narration often, but they could not save the utter ick of this character.

I wanted to slap the MMC to many times in the short amount of time I listened to this book. Maybe I gave up too early and he gets payback. But I just finished The Ravenhood series and this guy didn’t measure up to those guys.
