God, when will my alien come and take me!

Scrolling through the comments, I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one who wants to see more of Kai-Ren. I can't put it into words, but Kai-Ren felt honorable in his own twisted and wrecked way.

Brady, oh Brady! This immature, anger-filled, and self-deprecating character! He was so not the typical I-can-do-this confident MC. Seeing the story unfold through his fear-stricken eyes was so good. [a:Lisa Henry|5050492|Lisa Henry|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1635074774p2/5050492.jpg] has a way with words—absolutely captivating!

Cam, the ever-patient lover, the anchor that Brady so desperately needed even after their connection was severed. Nothing Brady showed Cam could deter Cam from seeing the real him under all that shit Brady buried himself under.
Cam might have been the perfect emissary for humanity, but I was humanity. I was the wretched bits, the reckless bits, and all the bits with jagged edges that didn’t fit. I was rough and unfinished, cracked and broken, all made up of splintered pieces and sharp corners, but it was those ragged parts of me that had snagged Kai-Ren’s attention.
And you can't believe how true that was. Brady could easily be a character who embodies humanity's fear and uncertainty.

“You’re a better person than I deserve,” I told him. “I’m trying to be better, but I guess I’m a work in progress. So, you know, thanks for putting up with me in the meantime.”

I'm so ready to devour the third book! give it here babe!

Brady and Cam are trying to live a normal life back on Earth but the military is always breathing down their necks, waiting for something. That something comes in the form of their telepathic connection reforming with each other and with The Faceless.
I felt this book was pretty slow. There wasn’t a lot happening at all until the last 30% of the book. Which to be fair, that was kind of what happened in book 1 too, but at least in book 1 you have 70% relationship building. This book was a lot of rehashing of book 1 and repetitive characterization and memories. Lisa Henry can write an exciting climax but by the time I got there I was just ready to be done. I also had very little interest in the telepathic connection being formed with so many, especially Chris. I have little tolerance for ex drama. This ends on a cliffhanger but I don’t think I’ll read book 3. The alien lost its scary appeal and just came out kind of flat here. There was in general a real loss of momentum and possibly just no need to continue this story beyond book 1.

While this wasn't as dark as the first book in the series, I still enjoyed seeing Brady and Cam. There were creepy bits, Brady is as messed up as ever, Cam still sees the bright side. I liked the pace and the emotions. I hope there will be a book three.

Sci-fi is usually a genre I avoid, but this is a sequel I have been waiting for forever! And it didn't disappoint. Cam and Brady are back on Earth, raising Brady's little sister, Lucy. Things are going okay, until one day, their life starts to fall apart around them. The connection they thought was dead starts to come back and so do the Faceless. I completely lost myself in this story. The world-building and emotions are perfect and the twists were totally unexpected. The ending... Lord, the next book better be out soon! I need to know what happens next!
