When you sink into this bad boy you sink into it. I enjoyed this alot with some steam.

Anna is strong woman who finally had enough and wanted to be happy and not a pawn of money and fake love. So she dropped her fiance and family to move to a quite town and finally started living the life she wanted to meeting some fun friends old and young and with those friends she meets Hot detective Calvin who already is under her skin for their first meeting. And boy that second meeting was funny and sparks flew!! I enjoyed their relationship i did wish we saw more date nights and stuff it did annoy me that Calvin job kept calling him. I understood since well cop. But I did get annoyed of that. On top of that we had a murder and well Anna's drama. So yeah pretty decent read and with good characters.

Tiny om drama and no ow drama (incase you count the murder), no cheating, sexy times, drama, slight secondary charas, no virgins

Recommend- yes/maybe

Hooking Him is the third installment in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ How to Catch an Alpha series. This story is about Anna McAlister, a woman who’s left behind her fiance and her previous life in Chicago for small town South Carolina. Anna’s been feeling like she needs to find herself and she’s not looking for love any more. Enter Calvin Miller, sexy detective and a romance skeptic. Calvin’s been burned by women before, but he can’t help wondering what it would be like with Anna in his bed. When a mystery rocks their town can these two manage to hold on to each other or will they be torn apart?

Aurora Rose Reynolds is known for her sweet and sassy reads with alphas that fall almost instantly for their women. I like that these books are usually loaded with steam, humor, and heart with characters that make you fall in love with them as instantly as they fall in love with each other. Though this novel sits within the How to Catch an Alpha world it can be read as a standalone with no real spoilers.

Fans of Reynolds previous books will love the side characters and friendships in this book. But it may come as a surprise that the relationship between Calvin and Anna is a bit slower burn than her typical couples. Because these two both have their issues with past relationships their reluctant to jump in to anything with someone new. However, once they do get together, they burn up the pages with their passion.

This story also includes a bit of a murder mystery which added to the tension between Anna and Calvin. At a point he begins to wonder if the new woman in his life can be connected to the crime he’s investigating. I love how Anna’s suport of Calvin and the way she loves him, opens his eyes to how wrong he had been about the previous woman in his life. These two deserve to be cared for and loved and I enjoyed them figuring it out together.

Overall, this is a quick steamy read with a bit of a mystery that’s great as a fun summer time read. I appreciate that this book comes from the same world as others in the series but we’re not overwhelmed with cameos from previous couples. I would highly recommend this to fans of the author or anyone that’s looking for a low angst, high heat read.
