I thought this book was light and steamy, but it’s not, it deals with heavy topics (calling it dramatic sounds offensive somehow) — though it’s not exactly discussed in lengthy details. The book has that lingering feeling of loss and sadness, which took me by surprise.

I liked this book, but not enough to give it a higher rating than I did now. I can’t pinpoint exactly what feels off about it, except for the fact that their love started out hot and cold (if that even makes sense). I’m stopping this review right here because my brain cannot function well while writing this review.

Nonetheless, I still recommend this book. It’s a good story and it’s realistic. It’s my first book by Jewel E. Ann, and I enjoyed Flint and Ellen’s story so I think I’ll check out some of her other books as well.

My heart, this book is so cute and just pure raw emotions. I absolutely loved this book, I laughed, I cried and enjoyed every last bit of it.

Meh.

I feel this author tried to cram every single plot device typical to a romance into this story making it convoluted and a lot longer than it needed to be. It was just trauma after trauma after trauma and it was too much. Since there were so many traumas and dramas that the characters were dealing with, no drama felt fleshed out.

"Look The Part" by Jewel E Ann is a mesmerising story that explores the depths of human emotions and the transformative power of love. The story revolves around Flint Hopkins, a talented and charismatic music teacher, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Ellen Rodgers, a grieving widow struggling to find her way back to happiness. As they navigate their own personal demons, their paths intertwine, leading to a remarkable journey of healing, redemption, and unexpected love.

The delicate and realistic portrayal of the characters' emotional journeys was my favourite part of the book. Jewel E Ann has a unique ability to explore the human psyche, capturing the intricacies of pain, loss, and vulnerability, and presenting them in a way that feels raw and authentic. The emotional depth of the narrative kept me hooked throughout the book, making it an incredibly fascinating read.

Flint Hopkins was my favourite character, of course. His complex background, combined with his enigmatic charm, made him an unforgettable protagonist. Flint's struggle with his past, the burden of guilt he carries, and his determination to make amends are depicted with such passion that it's impossible not to root for him. His vulnerability and growth throughout the story are beautifully depicted, making him a character I grew deeply attached to.

Flint's appearance is described in a way that exudes a rugged and mysterious appeal, perfectly complementing his internal conflicts. His thoughts and feelings are laid bare, allowing readers to experience his inner turmoil firsthand. His habits and speech further enrich his character, adding layers of authenticity and relatability. Jewel has masterfully brought Flint to life, making him a character readers will remember for a lomg time.

"There's a whole world out there that needs to hear what's inside of you. It's time to believe in yourself and take a leap of faith. I promise you won't fall alone."

This powerful quote describes the theme of the book: the importance of embracing one's true self, overcoming self-doubt, and taking risks. It resonated deeply with me, serving as a reminder that we all have the strength within us to pursue our dreams and find our own happiness.

This is a truly remarkable novel that seamlessly weaves together themes of love, loss, redemption, and self-discovery. Jewel's superb storytelling, rich character development, and thought-provoking writing makes this book an absolute must-read.

“Heaven and Earth, Flint …
I’m going to love you so hard, time won’t matter. Distance won’t matter. All you’ll feel when you take each breath … is my love.

This was a cute contemporary romance with grump/sunshine and single dad tropes. It was a lot deeper than I was expecting, themes of grief loss and navigating disability
