This was fun and easy-to-read. It had all the fun romantasy tropes you expect, and a few good twists. I would call it a “comfort romantasy” only because it was a bit predictable, but not necessarily in a bad way. The FMC was, at times, irritating. There were a lot of questions at the end for me, but I went back and tried to think through them. Can’t wait for book two!

Lachlan Gage, everyone. This man. He was possessive & jealous far before they were even together. Cate is a nurse at the New Orleans ER & meets Lachlan when her brother, Channing, gets in trouble & injured. She sells her soul to get Channing out of trouble & things spiral from there. Did I mention this is like a mafia fae type situation? This was enemies to lovers, slooooow burn but with ALL THE TENSION! The tension. was *chefs kiss*! As I think back to the plot, I don’t really recall anything major happening until the end. We just see the progression of Cate & Lachlan and some fae court drama around them but it’s nothing that really stands out. She becomes very good friends with Lachlan’s sister, Ciara, & they do a lot of shopping & dressing up for events 🤷🏻♀️
All in all, the vibe was great. I enjoyed it. I just wished more significant things happend throughout the story. The ending was a cliffhanger but that is really when I felt the story got started. I will definately read book #2 once the audio comes out.
