Another good read. Really good pacing, plot, character development and naval atmosphere.

I am reading the series chronologically, rather than in publication order. This was the first of the books, specifically the encounter with the Loire, where I found myself obsessing over being able to visualize the events and the physics at work as they played out. The last book to do this to me was one of the Expanse series.

Married to the Sea, and a Woman
I enjoyed Hornblower's trials and tribulations as captain of the Hotspur. Highly recommended to those who like reading about the historical struggles of the Napoleonic Wars, and the psychological efforts of being a captain in the British navy.

Is there a such thing as a disaster Eeyore? Horatio is one. Bless his heart.

This series continues to get better as the books progress. Classic old fashioned adventure on the high seas. Thoroughly enjoyable.
