Stunning. It inspires people to be a little better, to try a little harder and to love a little more. I thoroughly enjoyed listening.

This was fantastic. Just her writing alone is a reason to read this book. More importantly, this book got me thinking, challenged what I believed. I had some doubts along the way, researched some of her facts to see if things rang true. I may not agree with every conclusion she reached, every outcome she was led to, but I do believe all she told was true and I still have a girl crush on her with a little dose of reality.

description

My queen has spoken! I can't even begin to explain how much this book means to me. As I contemplate what I want for my future, I'm not sure what will happen. I'm afraid I won't have the career I worked for, the family who will support me, and the friends to put up with me. Imagining my future self doesn't often involve children or even a partner. So exploring Michelle's struggles to still find purpose gives me a sense of comfort that desire is what makes us human. We want and we continue to want. Then we do whatever we can to keep what we have.

In turn, the dichotomy of Michelle and Barack puts into perspective what makes a relationship work. How does it feel to have the whole world have eyes on you. It's not as if Michelle isn't accomplished either. Rather how these two individuals go about achieving their goals. While Michelle believes in slow and steady change, Barack is willing to gamble for betterment. It can be difficult to have a life where you have to share your partner. It can be even more difficult when your partner has bigger dreams. Yet, there's something to be said when you put your faith into someone who wants to create a better life for you and your children.

Never mind, the whole time I was reading I kept thinking, "That is totally me!". I'm kind of Mich's best friend which as you should know is how her friends refer to her. I only hope to be an ounce of the greatness that is Michelle. I'm not crying, you're crying.

I savored every word of this piece. Michelle is just so incredibly wise and gives readers the advice they need through sharing a wealth of her own.
