I liked this, but I wanted to like it more. The story never fully clicked for me, and Joker's line, "Who cares about the Riddler" has an element of truth in it. Tom King's dialog and style is artsy, but sometimes it comes across as pretentious. But, who am I to judge, his Batman comics are selling like hotcakes! There's a lot to praise about this, but I found the ending unsatisfying and the big Bat-twist to be hard to swallow and a bit unearned.
Maybe we all just have to acknowledge that the Riddler as a concept peaked in 1967 with Frank Gorshin.

there are ups and downs and way lot more violence and honestly i never thought riddler to be powerful criminal in the same league as joker as depicted.

Tom King just gets better and better. This relatively self-contained story delves into Batman's second year and his disastrous handling of a feud between Joker and Riddler that inflicts untold collateral damage onto Gotham City. It's a story that Batman must tell Catwoman so that she knows who is really is, and how even he was pushed to the brink by this experience. It's a powerful look at a character who everyone thinks is always in control, but really has human failings just like everyone. And even a traditionally second-tier villain like Kite Man is written with compassion and nuance. Janín's artwork is exceptional.
Reading this, I was thinking, how did no one think of this before? It's an obvious and brilliant idea: the Joker and the Riddler start a war over Batman, like two jealous lovers, and Gotham city falls apart while caught in the middle.
I love that it's a flashback. I love how Selina appears, and when she appears. I love the softness and the vulnerability they display - within acceptable limits for my personal fandom, at least. The ending is telling and touching and tender and terrifying, and Tom King deserves kudos for what he brings to the characters. He's added a new level of depth.
The art is glorious, and keeps all timelines straight.
