⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book 2 in the Hart's Ridge series and I devoured it in one sitting! Lucy is Taylor's youngest sister and a wanderer. Never staying anywhere for too long, picking up any jobs to get her by, Lucy seems to attract all sorts of trouble! Get latest worries find her back home but doesn't stay long when she realises get family can't help her. She hotfoots it to New York, where she unexpectedly finds help. She could never have foreseen what transpires but she is determined to continue being independent. Loved it!

Oh wow!! I absolutely loved book #1 in the Hart's Ridge series but little did I know that the author would kick it up another notch or two with the second book. Lucy in the Sky was amazing and I was totally drawn into Lucy's life and struggles. And then there's Taylor over there with a huge case, a family secret that she is trying to get to the bottom of and get answers to. The drama surrounding both sisters intrigued me and compelled me to devour the story.

I am so excited for the next installment of this amazing series. I am totally invested in the Gray family and cannot wait to find out what happens next to this interesting family. I highly recommend this series and I know you will be looking forward to more stories, just like I am.

I found the second book of this series to be even more compelling than the first! There’s gripping personal mystery that Tayler gets involved in while her sister Lucy finds herself in NYC in an unlikely situation. As the story goes back and forth between the two sisters it was hard to put the story down. Bratt has developed intriguing characters that the reader can’t help but root for! Excited to see what is next for these sisters.

Diamonds Aren't Always What They Seem. Once again, Bratt - in a bit of a departure from her "normal" books, at least the later ones before this series I am most familiar with - manages to craft a compelling tale of a broken family in small town rural Georgia (among other places) and make it seem all too real. In this particular case, we get two different yet linked stories here, as the titular Lucy deals with the fallout of her actions from her introduction in Book 1 of this series while big sis Taylor, the lead in Book 1, continues to unravel the deep family secret she uncovered in the first book. Yet again. Bratt is perhaps too comfortable with modern police tactics for some... but yet again, Bratt *does* manage to *also* highlight at least some of the problems with modern US policing and even brings in the real-world Innocence Project here and cites some of their real-world figures regarding the number of convictions they've helped overturn in the last 30+ years. In both plotlines, "reality" as each sister knows it begins unravelling more and more the deeper the sister looks, and each sister has to find out just how far down the particular rabbit hole they find themselves in they're willing to go. And with the conclusion of this particular tale... you're going to want Book 3 (In My Life, currently slated for release one month from now on March 14, 2023) pretty well immediately. Very much recommended.
