I really love this book.
I did not really enjoy 'Everyone in this room will someday be dead' and I was anticipating to feel the same way with this book. But unlike Austin other book, I feel less annoyed or burden by the constant anxiety driven thoughts and the 'plot-less' narrative. There is hardly anything going on in this book, like at all. But that is what made it so good. The problems that I had with 'Everyone in this room will someday be dead' is that it felt plotless despite having so many things going on in the background, like a whole murder plotline that got swept under the rug.
With this book all it does is follow Enid and how she is a fan with true crime podcasts and space, her relationship with her friends, family and flings, and this ongoing obsession that a bald man is breaking into her apartment. The whole book is just filled with her anxious and neurotypical thoughts, but it works in this context unlike the 'Everyone in this room will someday be dead' (this is my last time trashing that book).
Also, as someone who gets really anxious and have irrational fears myself, though mine are not dealing with bald men thankfully, I found so many similar qualities of myself in the main character and that what also made the book very enjoyable. I would definitely reread this again.

I loved everything about this book! I relate a lot to Enid, from the love of space, information organization, and being autistic (which I clocked almost immediately). There was a lot of really strong plot points and none of them felt ignored or like they were forced in there. 10/10 would highly recommend.

i absolutely loved this book- it was a perfect mix of lit fic with a little bit of “mystery”/unknown that kept the story moving
enid was such a lovable character and i just loved reading about her
the reveals of the bald neighbor just wanted the volume turned down, the fire/bald phobia background, and vin breaking in were all done perfectly
the relationships in this book were also so real and raw
loved the casual (ie. did not feel forced) representation of LGBTQ, mental health, autism

I loved this so much!! I’m a sucker for quirky, relatable girl characters! This novel also had some depth in many aspects, one of which reminded me of Ladybird, one of my favorite films. :)
