favorite quote(s)

She blushes when she comes. A watercolor pink that spreads across her chest. She does it quietly, with a breathy groan like that first stretch after waking. It’s all I can do to not try and coax another one from her, to start collecting them, hoarding them. I want to build a library in my mind to store them in. With floor to ceiling shelves and a rolling ladder.

“I officially have a crush on Meyer,” I admit.
“Like, a harmless, ‘ha-ha’ silly little flirtatious crush, like you’ve always had?” she shrugs.
I turn to her. “Like a heated, vividly-pictured-him-naked, sharp longing from my vaginal soul, crush. Throat thickening desire and pining. Distracting, life-altering. I’ve kept it under control, but then he sends me to one therapy session and I’m suddenly a little too in touch with my feelings if you know what I mean.”

thoughts/opinions

It's been a few days since I read this (because I was too lazy to review), and I still find myself thinking about them and giggling to myself. The chemistry between Farley and Meyer is top-notch, making this book funny, steamy, and downright enjoyable to read. Told from a dual point of view, both characters have distinct voices and personalities. Despite frequently jumping between flashbacks and present moments, the author manages to keep it clear by using 'Then (how many months ago)' and 'Now' to set the scene. Normally, I loathe books with this structure, but the author had me hooked from the beginning. I enjoyed gradually learning about Farley and Meyer's past.

The 'Found Family' aspect is heartwarming, with Meyer being a single dad to Hazel, who is adorable in her own right. But her relationship with Farley? I CAN’T. Additionally, the tension between Farley and Meyer, who have been best friends for two years after Meyer became her manager, adds an extra layer of complexity. Both secretly love each other but are hesitant to risk their professional relationship by crossing that line.

Literally can’t follow along with the audiobook because of all the time jumps.
