This is a hard one to rate. On one hand I wanted to give it four stars but on the other I was aiming more toward three. I guess that means it's a 3.5. I liked this book... I enjoyed the characters and situations. The idea of a shrink for teens who is completely unaware of her own children was kind of brilliant and quite realistic. What I didn't like about the book though was that it seemed like Ginny's problems all got solved over night. One day she's miserable and self mutilating and the next she's all outgoing and making huge changes. It just felt too rushed. I still think it was a great book though despite the poor pacing.

Yup, I finished this in a day.

It was such a pleasant mixture of easy reading and a decent plot line with well rounded characters that I couldn't put it down.

It also provided some pretty concrete life lessons that for any teenager going through some angst would be a god send.

Good story. She manages to capture what it's like to be the fat chick in a skinny family. All girls should read this.

Hee. I remember discussing this book with my Intro class last semester (re: banning/censorship). I read it due to a fantastic booktalk in my Young Adult Lit class and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would have loved it if this book was around when I was getting fat, because it makes you feel so much better about being who you are, when you're not sure who you want to be. I love: "It's much more fun to shake your booty when you've got one to shake." (paraphrased)

Great Story! Loved seeing how the main character developed after all of the hard times in her life. In the end, she turned from a girl drowning in self-pity, and not doing anything about it, then turned in to a butt- kicking, awesome, speaks for herself person. Loved how she learned to love her body, even when she was plus-size. That was a message for us all who have ever felt insecure, this book is an anthem for that. Great read!

Entertaining, although all the topics in this book have since been covered more thoroughly in newer novels.

a very realistic novel that portrays the problems overweight girls go through, but in the end we should voe ourselves for who we are. This book show issues teenagers have like feeling out of place with their family. This is a really good read!

I couldn't put this book down once I started it. It was great!!!
