This book reminded me of just how much I thrive on teenage angst, space imagery, and well-developed internal conflict.
Better review to come (hopefully? maybe?).

Minor: Child abuse, Child death, Death of parent, and Death
There are some passionate kisses and one scene clearly implies that two characters are going to have consensual sex (not shown on page).booksthatburn's review against another edition
I almost stopped at the second chapter because I wasn’t feeling it, but I tried to keep going for a bit. NASA’s plan makes no sense and the AI’s feel out of place.

Maybe I read too many amazing Sci Fi books this month and was expecting too much from this one?
I liked the beginning. The setting and atmosphere created were dire and believable and terrifyingly close to home. But then... the characters didn't seem to reflect that. I mean, some of them did. Leo's actions and motivation made sense, but Naomi's... not so much. I was pretty annoyed by her most of the time. Towards the end it got better, and I could understand her a little more, but by then the book was almost over, so... I also wasn't a big fan of the romance plot. It was okay though. But then the decision of who the final 6 were at the end didn't make sense at all again. So many small and big things didn't make sense or weren't considered/explained, which is a sad because there was so much potential for the plot and the character development.
The ending on the other hand got me interested again, so I will probably read the sequel at some point. I'm too curious where this whole thing is going and how it will end.
