Liked this book a lot, probably because it had two things I lack these days: romance and a sense of purpose.

This book was shockingly good, considering how it started out.

I Hated—with a capital H—the first half of this book. It was tragic. Literally nothing made sense and the writing was horrifically inconsistent. The first 40-50% is the type of book I hate to read but love to talk smack about with my reading buddies. But then after the halfway point, it suddenly got ten times better and it was hard to continue the trash talk! Because of the dragons.

THE DRAGONS are the best creatures in this book!!!! Literally the only beings with solid personalities, probably because of their magic or the fact that there’s a certain kind of humour and wisdom that comes with being centuries old. Every human being in this book pissed me off. Stupid dumb humans!!! Lol, but I’m just partial to the dragons. Nothing can beat the ultimate best dad vibes that Tairn gives, or the babiest baby Andarna.

The romance was a scalding level of hotness and spice—which is only right. If you’re gonna do adult romantasy, then this is the only way to go! We don’t want no single scene only. We want a whole bunch, then little sprinkles of it, scattered throughout the entire book. Rebecca Yarros heard the booktok cries for good spicy romantasy scenes (with no weird wing touching—yes, I’m looking at you Ms. Maas), and she delivered.

The first half of this book would get a 1 star from me. The rest gets a 5. I was very torn. Sadly, I had to math and settle on taking down a star from my rating. But I’m hoping that Iron Flame is a full 5 all the way through!

I’m so hyped!!!
