While I loved the beautiful descriptions of the wilderness and the use of “voices in her head” as a plot device, the ending was disappointing. I feel like I read an entire story of survival that was made pointless by how it ended.

Interesting, but not something I’d necessarily recommend. Amazed at her ability to survive as long as she had. And also - a lot of the commentary, tho coming from someone in the 1600s, seems to be from a modern bent.

This was on my shelves for a year until it became a book club pick. I think it's a good one to discuss as a group as there was a lot going on. It's also pretty short but probably a good thing because it is so so brutal. Probs 4 stars really but I got extra miserable by the end.
