I came into this after reading the second book (cause I thought the first book was a omgeaverse book but it was just a shifter romance) but still a good book. I like building a good and healthy relationship between people, great world building and I can't wait to read book 3

Quick note: I just learned there’s a prequel book, A New Pack for New Year. It’s only available as a freebie through Clark’s website, so it isn’t listed on Goodreads. I’m hoping to sit down in the next few days to read it.

The Second and His Bonded is the 2nd book in Kiki Clark’s Kincaid Pack series. While each book features a different couple and it’s own storyline – there are several story arcs running through the series as a whole, so you’ll want to start with The Alpha and His King and listen to them in order.

I admit – I was kind of in love with Bennet by the end of book 1 and was really looking forward to his story. He was so amazing with Kai that I knew he’d be awesome with whomever Clark paired him with. I wasn’t wrong. Kieran and Kai are a lot alike and I do wish there had been a bit more to differentiate the romantic/relational aspect of this story – but I still enjoyed it. Partially because of Bennet’s endearing personality and the interwoven mystery/suspense of the series. Kieran is understandably prickly and watching him bloom as a person and with Bennet was so much fun.

While The Deputy and His Enforcer is already out in ebook – I’ll be waiting for the audio due sometime this Summer. Because…

Narration:
Kirt Graves is wonderful in this. I like that the various character voices are consistent from book to book. It makes it easy to listen to them back to back (yup, I relistened to The Alpha and His King again). I’m definitely looking forward to more of this series and of Graves in particular.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was introduced to Kiki Clark after reading her short story, Looking 4 Furever in the Heart2Heart Paranormal Anthology Volume 7 which I enjoyed so I decided to check out more of her books. I thought that this was a good addition to the Kincaid Pack Series, as well as my favourite on the series so far. I thought Bennett and Kieran were great together and their chemistry was completely off the charts. Kieran has recently moved packs but he’s struggling to find his place in the Kincaid pack. It doesn’t help that Kieran has trauma to deal with after escaping his abusive family. He’s basically spending all his time holed up in his assigned room. He’s waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Rick to kick him out of the pack. I think that pack let him down by ignoring him for so long and letting him fall through the cracks.

The only person he sees is Jessica who brings his food up to his room and they talk for a couple of minutes before she has to get back to her job helping in the kitchen. It got to the point that he can barely feel his wolf. Kieran and Bennett seem to keep butting heads initially. Bennett is only trying to help Kieran and to see if he needs anything but Kieran always take everything that he says the wrong way, or it could be that Bennett says it wrong so it’s a lose/lose situation. Bennett allows Kieran the space that he asked for but only for so long. Samantha, Kai and Jessica were eventually great friends to him which he desperately needed and the more time they all spend together the stronger and more open Kieran becomes. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. It’s Marcus’s turn next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

It took forever for the two main characters in this novel to like each other and the change in one of the characters was so sudden that I became confused. But once they overcame their hesitations the connection was very cute. I am fully engaged with the backstory of these main characters. I highly suggest that you do not read this series out of order. Each book focuses on a partnership but the underlying story is fully building to something.

Enjoyable story. Loved how much of a carer Bennett is.

THE SECOND AND HIS BONDED continues where the previous book left off, this time focusing on Rick’s second-in-command, tiger shifter Bennett. I really enjoyed this one and it’s focus on two lonely people finding someone to care for and love.

As I’m coming to find with Kiki Clark’s books, the romances are so sweet and sexy. Clark really builds the intimacy (in and out of the bedroom) between the couple and I just love that. I enjoyed seeing Kieran find his place in the pack and find confidence in himself. And Bennett is the perfect mate because he wants to take care of Kieran but never stifles his strength or his passion, though it takes Kieran a little to realize that.

I especially loved what a great big cat Bennett was. He’s a tiger shifter and he loves to lounge in the sun (in either form) and he’s an affectionate cuddler. He becomes a soft and welcoming place for Kieran to find peace.

Just like with the previous book, I adored the Kincaid pack. I loved their structure, their devotion to each other and the way they cared for those in need. There's also a really nice balance between how human vs how animal these shifters are.
