I read the first nine books between the ages of 9-12 and then stopped for a bit. Obviously when lockdown happened and everyone was spring cleaning, I came across all my books from this collection and I loved this series when I was a child, and yes, I might be 23-year-old, but I am still reading this series until it stops, or I die. I refuse to give up this small piece of my childhood. I will also be giving these books to my nephew or my niece. So obviously I must read it.
This book is based on Greg who we’ve been following for the last sixteen books. Greg is finding out that the road to fame and glory comes with some hard knocks. When he decided to tag along with his brother Rodrick’s band, Loded Diper, Greg doesn’t realize what he’s getting into. But he soon learns that late nights, unpaid gigs, fighting between band members, and money troubles are all part of the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. Can Greg help Loded Diper become the legends they think they are? Or will too much with Rodrick’s band be a diper overlode?
This book is so different to the other sixteen books, but it was so enjoyable. It was so positive seeing Greg and Roderick working together with the band. It was mainly to do with Roderick but through Greg’s eyes. We learned so much about the other members of the band and it was great seeing Roderick working so hard for the band considering he has always been deemed as lazy. I missed Rowley and his friendship with Greg and the family dynamic I would have loved to see the family reactions to them working together. I missed Manny being an absolutely cracker jack that he is and that he could have been involved in the band.
This book was so fun and different, and I can’t wait to see how this family is goin g to grow or what adventure they are going to go on next
