I already loved Willie, but this made me love him even more!

This book felt like Willie was just telling me anecdotes of his life while we hung out at a bar. Relaxed, didn't pull punches about his bad times, but definitely left me with a warm feeling inside and a smile.

Interesting in its way but the mix of professing Christianity one minute and the next using profanity while glorifying adultery, touting drug use, and asserting God uses reincarnation as a way to give non-Christians an infinite number of chances to get it right was rather off-putting. To each his own, but I personally didn’t enjoy this book very much.

This was a fun read. I was a little more interested in the detail of Willie's activism but the autobiographical story is interesting and I enjoyed learning the roots of some of his songs.

Just a joy start to finish. Read it in one bus ride from Dallas to San Antonio while listening to him with headphones. It's no wonder people are fans for life. His music comes from a pure place. He's one of the few good guys left in the music world.
A must read if you're a Willie fan.

Great beginning and middle but the ending felt very rushed.
