[edited] It is the morning after and I'm more awake to write an ACTUAL coherent review. New characters were introduced (meaning new characters do simp for) and I think the book did a great job putting a distinct personality to each of the characters that despite me being really bad with names, I could still distinguish one character from another. The book was split up into two arcs. The first arc takes us through Xie Lian's journey with the Wind Master (live laugh love them) along with Lang Qianqiu into Hua Cheng's territory. LET ME tell you how excited I was when I saw some of the art in the book and the fact that the spiritual weapons kind of has feelings?? That was fun. We get to understand a little bit more about Hua Cheng and that SCANDAL with Xie Lian was something else. The ending of the first arc made me sit there in shock. I knew he was going to break at some point but I didn't think it was going to be this early. I hope the third book takes us through that very soon. The second arc was a little back story about Xie Lian and the CHILD. I think I already know the identity of the child but it really showed just how kind Xie Lian was from the very beginning :( The two side characters were also such sweeties in their own way. Qi Rong can die and I will praise the devil for it. I took a star off for the lack of emotional drain.

omg. the second arc was really interesting. arc two was so sad :( xie lian is such a precious character and the ending of the first arc was...surprising. i knew he was going to break at some point but i just didn't think it would be this early on ANYWAYS qi rong you suck i hate you and i hope you rot in hell.
