This book was incredibly emotive. Early on the poetics of the writing felt a bit stilted and I almost gave up on it because it was so slow to start, but the little hints of what was to come kept me going and I’m glad I stuck it out.
Big content warnings for this one. What I found particularly hard was the interactions with her father, and her repeated loss of bodily autonomy even in fairly innocuous situations (which of course makes sense with the clear parallels to rape culture but they were still hard to read).
