This is THE WEIRDEST book I have ever read. I thought this was going to be a story about a girl who thought she was an alien…and it is but there’s SO MUCH more to it. Certain scenes were hard to get through (check trigger warnings). I did like how the author pointed out the pressures that are put on women in society. But be warned, this book is VERY weird and VERY disturbing.

This book is as beautiful as it is challenging. Murata has such an amazing ability to blend familiar with unfamiliar. I loved this book and I will never read it again.
